We've used FLAG
Performance Extra on our trailer/sailer to great effect.
Good in the water and tough enough for the trailer and
taking the ground. Best regards, Melanie Hitchcock, Red

FLAG Antifouling works
really well in the Med. As Sealine Agents for Spain
we've used lots of it to great effect. Thanks, Wayne

If you can make
antifouling paint that will work in the River Crouch,
it'll work pretty well anywhere! Well done. P Smith,

Hello there. Just to say how pleased I am with the
Roofix 20/10 that I bought from you this
summer. My garage roof is now watertight for the first
time in 9 years. It was also very easy to work with. I
have one opened tin left, and one unopened. Thanks
again, Mandy

Painting my cellar with ASIPO INTERNAL. Made up with the
Paint. Did 2 major walls today. Covered Brick and other
Paint (Blue and Yellow) really well in first coat. No
smell (this was a problem last time as the Vets nextdoor
knocked on to see what smell was) and I could actually
see that the first wall was nearly dry when I was
starting the second. Used about 1/2 or 2/3 of a can -
but really threw it on parts which were bare brick or
flakey. Few hours later - most was bone dry. Looks
great, shame I didnt take photo first!

Thank you for your comments. You are correct, the coverage
information should have been easier to find. We will
update our website soon. The product datasheet can be
download from here (it's a small PDF file): http://www.flagfinishes.co.uk/pdfs/flagperformanceptfe.pdf
Application tips and further coverage info is also
available in the 'Marine Product Information' Section:
http://www.flagfinishes.co.uk/product_marine.htm We have
emailed some information to you. We hope that this is
useful.

I have been looking for an indication of coverage
quantities required for the new copper and teflon
antifouling, to no avail. A table of coverage area per
litre would be helpful. Denis Corfe

"Scaramouche has never been very good in light airs but on the
first EAORA race round to Mersea the other week, we led
all the way. The difference with the
FLAG Performance PTFE antifouling is amazing.
I'm well impressed and don't mind others knowing it!"

Dear Mr Lewin
FLAG Performance PTFE Copper Antifouling
Report on application: * Substrate: epoxy primed hull
(1997), recently revealed by removal of Copperbot. *
Abraded with 240 grit. * Washed with white spirit. *
Applied 1st coat unthinned using 4" roller in ideal/dry
conditions +/- 15degC. This covered exceptionally well
with no tendency to run. No signs of transparency. * 2nd
and 3rd coats applied within 24 hours, again unthinned.
* Finish excellent - very smooth, (unlike Copperbot
which finished "ridgy") ('J' has asked me to use
"Performance" on our Christmas decorations!!) * My
bottom has been much admired by many at Fox's Marina
(where "Wizard" is still ashore). There's a lot of
interest in it...many people say "It looks right!" Time
will tell and I will keep you posted. * We used exactly
2.5L/coat on our 30'WL fin & skeg hull, 11'6" beam, 7'
draught. Questions: 1. Does it need abrading before
launch? (Now imminent)? NO, UNLESS YOU WANT A RACING
FINISH -
FLAG 2. Does it need abrading at next
haul-out? ONLY VERY GENTLY, IF AT ALL -
FLAG 3. Do you recommend painting the prop &
shaft (Bronze & S/S(? Although a "hard" coating, I'm
concerned that one chip could lead to concentrated
electrolysis at that point. THE BRONZE IS OK BUT DON'T
COAT THE S/STEEL SHAFT -
FLAG 4. I have 2.5L left over. Would you
recommend a 4th coat - or keep it for the next haul-out?
KEEP IT FOR NEXT TIME! -
FLAG Best regards Mark Grimwade

Chris, Thank you for your interest in
FLAG products. Here is some technical data
about the
FLAG Performance PTFE that may be useful,
Colour: Copper (yes it's a copper colour/finish) Finish:
Matt Volume solids: 47% Theoretical spreading rate: 10
sq.m. per l Dry to touch: approx 15 minutes Over-coating
time: approx 30 minutes
FLAG Performance PTFE is not designed to be
overpainted although after a season or two it should be
able to take conventional single pack copper based
antifouling without any problems. The finish remains
hard and very smooth (designed to be fast). Epoxies are
often prone to 'weathering' and specifically UV
degradation. I hope that this helps.
